Sri R. Thanasuram

Sri R. Thanasuram was the esteemed Founder of Maharishi Vidyaa Mandir School, Harveypatti and Thirunagar. Guided by a strong vision and commitment to society, he established the Thirunagar branch in 1993 and the Harveypatti branch in 1994 with the objective of providing quality education rooted in values, discipline, and holistic development.

Born on 23rd October 1958, Sri R. Thanasuram pursued his academic qualifications with distinction, completing M.Sc. and B.Ed. in Botany. In addition to his academic excellence, he was a trained Yoga Instructor and a Transcendental Meditation (TM) Master, firmly believing in the integration of intellectual, physical, and spiritual education.

He envisioned an education system that was simple, child-centric, inclusive, and affordable. Emphasis was placed on academic excellence, moral values, character building, yoga, meditation, and self-discipline. Special care was taken to ensure that children from economically weaker sections had access to education, with minimal fees and, in deserving cases, free education.
Late Sri R. Thanasuram was known for his approachable nature, integrity, compassion, and dedication. Through his lectures on spirituality and Transcendental Meditation, he inspired students, teachers, and parents to lead disciplined, balanced, and meaningful lives.
He passed away in June 2023. Though he is no longer with us, his vision and ideals continue to guide Maharishi Vidyaa Mandir School, which remains committed to nurturing responsible, confident, and value-oriented citizens.
